The Kagerplassen

The Kagerplassen form one of the most beautiful and characteristic water sports areas in the Netherlands. A unique landscape of lakes, islands, reed beds, and windmills, where Dutch water life comes to life.

Whether you come to sail, paddleboard, boat, or relax, the Kagerplassen offer endless possibilities. Rent a sloop and discover the picturesque villages of Warmond, Kaag, and Buitenkaag, where charming terraces and authentic windmills form the backdrop. The quiet sailing routes lead you past meadows full of meadow birds and over ancient towpaths towards Leiden and the Braassem.

The area is also a discovery for walkers and cyclists. The polders and dykes offer beautiful views and lead you past farms, church towers, and small ferries that connect the islands. Every season has its charm: lively in summer, hushed and serene in winter.
